im currently using a packard bell 8870 with a q6600 go, the cpu is begging me to overclock it but as its a pb i cant get in the bios.

anything i can use in windows to do it? cant afford a new mobo atm.

Its not reliable and Clockgen is not been updated as the min (says later).

You need know your Mobo, if its a Nvidia you could try Ntune but its crap.

The Bios is best Method TBH.

There are a few programs, exactly what motherboard is it?

its a asus p5n-e sli. but obviously has a packard bell bios. pb list it as a pb vegas 2.

i have pondered the idea of flashing the bios to an offical asus one but im concerned it will screw my windows install, unfortunately i dont have a windows cd to reinstall if required.

most windows software is crap, i really would flash the bios, i have done that loads of times and have never had to reinstall vista.

Cahning your bios shouldn't effect your windows install at all, either way they can't expect you to not keep the machine up to date.
