I'm looking at replacing a D-Link wireless modem/router that has gone wrong, can anyone tell me if these are any good?

Netgear DG834PN
Netgear DG834GT - What is the difference betwwen the two??

Do ADSL2 modems work on ADSL

Or suggest something better

The PN uses RangeMax, AKA MIMO et al.
The GT uses 2 802.11g channels bonded together to give you 108 Mbps.

Both need specific adapters to get full benefit, neither conform to any real standard.

Yup.

Most find the DG834GT has overheating/stability issues, so your mileage may vary.

Ok as nobody has anything good to say about netgear :D which is the better bet on offer from linksys?

What's wrong with Netgear?

I had a DG834 for nearly two years - was very solid. Recently upgraded to an 834PN, also been 100% solid. Been using wi-fi for my notebook constantly over the past 3 weeks or so, and not had a single drop.

Netgear all the way.

have used netgear D834G and D-link wireless routers for last year or so and have had trouble with both for dropping and random crashing (assume overheating in the netgears case as gets rather warm).
but found that the link-sys system i had running in another house was rock solid and still goes 100% secure and the easiest to set up securely and never crashes.

bought a D834G worked for a day kept crashing and overheating. I RMA this an Netgear send me another one, i try this one and this router wont even let me log into it. I find netgear useless but the customer serrvice isnt all that bad. I have a linksys router, nothing wrong with it.
