I got my computer made today. I've not build a PC in a very long time so wasn't sure about temps.

Its running at about 37C idle and goes upto 65C when i put prim95 on 8 workers

The CPU is: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) with Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

Are these temps ok or should i be getting lower?

That sounds about right for the cpu and cooler combo.

Hyperthreading will make the i7 run hotter than an i5 though not by too much.

A better cooler would bring the temps down a bit as idle is a bit high but nothing to worry about! :)

It also depends on what case this is all in and what fans you are using.

Im using NZXT Hush Black Silent Case with 1 120mm at the front and 1x 120mm at the back. Wanted it to be as silent as possible as my last PC was very loud.

What sort of temps is ok when its under full load?

Also when i boot the PC up, The fans come on, then 2 seconds later go off and come back on again, is this normal? Im using: Asus P8P67 PRO Intel P67 Mobo

Yeah, that can happen with the fans.

Processors can get very hot without causing damage though I wouldn't want to really let mine get over 70c. Bear in mind thought that for normal use and gaming the cpu will not get as hot as it does with Prime so your temps are fine as they are.

Oh right thats good to know then. Thanks for the help.

Also my Mobo came with 2x 6gbps sata cables and ive got 1 6gb SSD in there now but i want to buy 2 more 6gbps drives but i cant see on overclockers which cables support 6gbps how do i know?
