What's the deal with these diamond rings?, are they ok?

The feedback seems fine, it's just they seem quite cheap, I received an offer from eBay to buy the one above for £1000, does that seems like a good deal?

with stuff like this i would go direct to a jeweler and get the legit stuff which is hallmarked and guaranteed not to be fake. when spending this much wonga you got to be careful.

eBay diamonds, really good, really cheap, better than market value! Verified!!! Lots of great customer reviews!

What could go wrong?

They will be lab grown CVD diamonds. The market is awash with them esp in India. A one carat diamond at the lowest end of the clarity scale would cost only around £500. Its got £65 of gold in it plus the making of it.

So I can easily see how somebody is making a profit at £1000. One thing for sure, it was and never is worth £4,650.

At a £1000 you are paying about the right price for the cheapest diamond you can buy. Would you ever buy an S2 diamond unseen? You would be mad to do so.

It could still all be a scam though. Lots of websites selling these 1 carat rings for around the original ebay asking price.

There is a channel on YT where they often rectify stuff like this... or rather bin the whole thing really and start over.

Her: "Look! I'm engaged! He proposed!"
Her friends: "Wow, that's lovely! Where did he buy the ring?"
Her: "Ebay..."

If you are going to waste that much on a tiny reflective rock anyway, why not just make sure it's legit by getting it from a respected jeweler?

I think it essentially boils down to how fussy you are about the diamond. If it was me and the requirement was a diamond that is "real" aka mined, I'd be after one with a GiA certificate only. If this doesn't bother you, I'd be getting a decent quality lab diamond instead, which I'd prefer to a "real" diamond with a certificate from a "lesser institute".

I wouldn't buy anything that expensive on eBay.

Why would a seller be selling them on eBay? If they was legit he'd sell them to a jeweller.

Surely you could get a much better ring for that price without it being diamond, I thought we'd moved on from the old only a diamond will do marketing from yesteryear.
