Are these settings safe to use all the time?

Hi All,

I've never overclocked before so sorry if this is a stupid question :p

I recently got a Q9550 + Asus P5Q Pro, whilst messing around I changed the FSB to 400 and left every other setting on "auto", after running intelburn/prime95 for a few hours the temps were at 58-60c. Settings are:

Is it okay to continue using these settings all the time, or would I be better off manually changing some of the other settings (after reading guides)? It cuts about 20% off my rendering/encoding times, which this system is primarily for.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

put ram volt to V2.1 and try and put the timings abit tighter like 4-4-4-12, i got same ram mine is on 5-4-5-12 at 950 mhz, so should be ok at 4-4-4-12

p5q overvolts if set to auto or or minimum value. overvolting is very bad, kills components when it gets out of hand

set everything except cpu voltage and ram to one notch above minimum. sata set to 1.5V exactly, ram to stock settings (probably 2.1 based on the above) and cpu vcore to the minimum that keeps it stable

so yeah, manual settings with guides is far better than auto

Hi. I've overclocked my q9550 to 4.00GHz with 1.390vcore, so i wouldn't worry about your overclock. I congratulate you on your low vcore, that really helps the temperature and life. I would suggest looking into PLL voltages, try to get it to 1.5v.
