I've just fitted an ADSL Nation filtered faceplate to the master socket in the hall and replaced the phone cable running upstairs to the router in my PC room with BT spec 4 core twisted pair cable, I've also removed the bell wire connection from the downstairs phone extension. I've got no idea what these figures mean.

My previous line stats as shown by the router were

SNR Margin 19.5db downstream, 6.0db upstream
Line attenuation 41db downstream, 31.5db upstream
data rate kbps 2272 downstrewam, 448 upstream
max rate kbps 6272 downstream, 592 upstream
power dbm 19.0 downstream, 12.5 upstream
CRC 5 downstream, 0 upstream

After rebooting the router they are now

SNR Margin 34.7db downstream, 12.5db upstream
Line attenuation 24.0db downstream, 13.0db upstream
data rate kbps 2272 downstrewam, 828 upstream
max rate kbps 21736 downstream, 1406 upstream
power dbm 18.3 downstream, 11.3 upstream
CRC 0 downstream, 0 upstream

I'm with bloody terrible on a package which they say should be upto 16meg, think I'll need to change ISP because you get nowhere when you phone india about broadband problems, might as well go to the local zoo and ask a chimp to sort the problem out.
