After 10 years, I have finally build my new system. What a struggle and I haven't even started cable management yet.

Processor is a 2600k
MB: Asrock P67 Extreme 6
Ram: xms 3 8GB
Akasa Venom Cooler
Coolermaster HAF X case

I have only run Prime 95 for 30 minutes so far and not overclocked at all so far. I was Wondering if these temperature seem ok to you guys as I am a real novice to this.

Thanks for your help!

Cable management will really help with temps, they are a little high, but sort out the cables and the see what temps your rig is bringing

I have actually just completed another prime95 for 60 minutes after having moved all the cables so there is no obstruction to any of the fans which are running at full speed via the PSU. Temperatures are exactly the same as before. Should I be worried? Do you think the cooler needs reseating, or are the temperatures within limits?

I am hoping to overclock but I am not sure if this is wise after what you have told me. The Akasa venom is located on the right of the cooler towards the front of the case. Is that correct??

The temperature on full load after 30 minutes were exactly 40c.

Thanks again!!

Well....in that screen shot your fans are running too slow it is showing 164rpm, the case fans run at 700rpm on the HAF X (I have the same case, psu and mb)
With the cpu at stock my temps are.....idle 15c load running prime 39c
with the auto tune in the EUFI (bios) @4.8Ghz my temps are idle 27c load running prime 61c

I have attached all the fans to the psu. Silly question but how do I make them faster? I have a them attached to a corsair power supply (1200 watts) so it should be powerful enough. I have connecte all fans via one cable to the psu. Is that wrong???

Thanks for answering all my newbie questions!

Yes it is wrong, you have to connect them to the motherboard, there are 4 connectors on the board. Look for the 3 and 4 pin one's on there.
Also check the manual you can then use the Asrock fan control either in windows or in the UEFI.

PS don't worry about asking questions!;)

So just to be clear, should i connect all fans to the motherboard, or is it ok to connect one to the PSU as the 3pin cable does not reach easily to the mb on one of the fans.

Thanks again

What I still don't get is which fan in which connector. I have got the fan on top of the case plugged into power fan. The front one in chafan 1 and the back one on the psu. In the bios i can only see the akasa cpu fan spinning around 1800. the power fan which spins around 700 on full manual setting. the other fans spin but don't show speeds in bios. Have I done this right know or are they too slow and if so why???

thanks

Ok. I have done some cable management, replugged all fans bar one into the motherboard. In the bios the fans are set up for full load. I have run prime 95 for one hour under full load again. What about these temperatures? Are they ok, terrible, decent?

Can I overclock with those temperatures? What about the other values? Are they ok?
Please bear with me as I am trying to understand all this as a newbie.

PS: I have checked the heatsink and there does not seem to be a problem there. I used the peasize method for an Akasa Venom cooler. There do seem to be some discussions whther to use this method or a "line method". I really don't fancy reseating this cooler again, but of course if you let tell me there is something wrong, I will.

Thanks for the continued patience!

I would say you could if they are your max temps, just as you say do it gradually, keep an eye on the temps and follow the sandy bridge overclocking guides because they overclock a bit differently to the previous generation of i7 chips
