are these two items compatable?

It depends what sort of internet connection you're planning on connecting the router to. It would be virtually useless on ADSL.
 
Oh, I didn't know it wouldn't work shows how green I am.... What would work?

I need a good quality set up as I play games, I think I have to plug a modem/router into the BT socket and then get a wireless card or USB stick to connect the two together. I am on DSL with plus net, I only have one PC and one PDA.
I am so confused by all the numbers etc, thx in advance for your help
 
For ADSL you want this version of that router:

ADSL modem built into it, just plug your phone line into that, then you can use either the wired ports on the back or wireless to connect to the net.

The USB adapter you previously posted would be compatible with the router.

However as you mentioned that you play games I would personally try to go via cable into the router as it will be a much better connection than the wireless link.
