So, seeing as seti is down for a few days I figured I'd get one rig (8 core Xeon machine) to do some foldy work. Last I checked, windows SMP2 units gave 17-19k PPD with this rig and Linux A2 BIGADV about 25k. Not in the mood to muck about with Linux just yet, so decided to give the Windows BIGADV a go.

Server seems to be down so I take the -bigadv flag out and replace it with -advmethods. First unit is downloaded and running, P6702 base credit 921 giving a TPF of 11:35 and final credit of 5081 and a PPD of 6316.7 . Please tell me I have made a mistake somewhere and it's not that the new projects give 1/3 of the PPD :(

I dunno, I'm having trouble at the moment with performance on my i7 rig. :( gets slower and slower till it just hangs.

Could it be the infamous load balancing bug within the A3 core?. Just doing a full machine reboot to see if it helps the TPF at all.

The p6702 WUs are pretty dire but shouldn't be that bad. I've been getting about 12-13k on my i7 920 @ 4GHz - compared to around 19-20k for regular A3 WUs.

Must be that for me.

My main rig, has a GTX470 and i7 and the GTX is fine'ish.. sometimes hangs, but currently the i7 is running a P6701. TPF is 55 minutes and PPD is 245.98!!! :(

I turned off the GPU stopped cpu client, set it up with -smp 8 and left it running, went back to look at it after a few hours and it was 2h+ TPF and something carp like 89 PPD..

So something is not right with that rig. CPU is at 100% on all cores, tried it at 4.2, 4.0, 3.9, 3.8Ghz... and just rubbish performance.

even dropped back to the 2.19 client to see if that would help. Have left it running for a few hours as a console app rather than a service (although never had problems before) to see if that helps, GPU still off.

To check I'm not going mad, I had to pull weebeastie apart earlier and its running as a barebones mobo with stock heatsink and fan at 3.6Ghz running the latest client and is doing 8 minutes tpf.. go figure!

Well I thought it might be a generic performance issue. But it shows normal figures in SiSoft Sandra and does a sub 10s 1M SuperPi so it seems the CPU is working ok
