Hey, for the second time now, I have been given a MAC code from tiscali which "appears to be valid" here

http://www.maccode.org.uk/check-mac-code/

But Sky have for the second time now said it is invalid and that I need to either sever the connection and then get them to connect me all over again on sky (i know that will take ages and cant go without the net that long whilst im doing my dissertation at uni)

or ask tiscali for ANTOHER mac code, which will probably be invlaid again.

I spent bloody ages on the phone to sky to get my broadband from them and now I will have to go through it all again (they like to keep you on the phone as long as possible and talk rubbish). So annoyed. I read others were having the same problems.

I also read something about LLU but no idea what that is or how it affects me because I read that both providers are LLU

Has anyone else had this luck with Tiscali, what is the best way to resolve it, i just want to change providers :mad: But its like tiscali are giving me false mac codes so I cant ?!?

LLU = Local Loop Unbundling. Basically a provider sticks their hardware in the BT exchange, and you can be connected to it rather than BT Wholesale's.

Try the MAC key with, say, one of the Enta resellers - who only have a monthly contract - then try going to Sky from there? You may well have issues going LLU - IPStream though (IIRC you'll be charged another activation fee).

I decided to go for o2 broadband because Im on a o2 mobile contract and its £7.50 a months for 8 meg unlimited and reviews seem to be good for them. Did the application last night and getting regular updates on my mobile about the progress.

100 Free online texts a month too.
