It seems that there are a lot of threads revolving around the service (or lack of) of Virgin Media. We're only on the 20mb connection, but the internet bwas basically down Friday night, and since then, instead of getting a rock solid 20mb with 21ms ping like we usually do, the latency is all over the shop, as is the download speed =(

Does anyone know if Virgin are doing maintenance to/spilt coffee over/got bored with their servers?

Have a look at their support forum. VM are having issues all over the show and are in denial mode. Roughly ALL of their ADSL customers are having their service restrictions (I am getting .4/.5mbs in the evening (!) when I was getting 6.5/7.5mbs a couple of months ago). I have been a vocal user of that forum and have been bugging the hell out of their support staff for weeks.

They have only just admitted that they are having problems to the forum. No proper time frame for a fix although fiber customers have had it easier I believe you guys are next with the harsh throttling and mean caps that don't reflect what you are paying for. Tbh I think they have just taken on too many customers on the faster packages. If you ring them up they will go through the motions as if it is a problem on your end. Gaming is just about acceptable on my line, my ping hasn't changed thankfully.

Oh yeah, Steam downloads have been broken for me for months now. 50/60kbs all day and night, enen when their bloody throttling ends at midnight.

Virgin always has problems somehere in the country. So you may be getting problems in your area but other people with virgin are not. The best people to ask about problems are other Virgin users in your area and on your UBR or getting in touch with technical support and asking them of any known problems in your area.

Erm... Yeah. Try talking to VM support staff. On the off chance you won't get a script jocky. 99% of the time you will. Check out this thread from the support forum of Virgin:

VM support are as helpful as a square wheel and at worst lie through their teeth

There are a load more here:

It's not isolated or indeed a local fault.
