I see that from the experiment thread that loads of us will wanna say stuff that perhaps we are worried to say or think it might offend people. Yes we might argue that it is a light-hearted thread etc even though it is, I still think it provides a little door way to something bigger - Possibly that we might be potentially racist in some ways or have one or two issue against other race - xenophobia? Even our own government find it hard to discuss racial issue without the opposition labeling them racist or leading to a full blown drama in the house where they have daily debate (house of parliament or commons?). Let's not forget how daily mirror and similar news outlet play their own part by sensationalising the slightest of news and possibly brain-washing a few in the process.
We cant talk about immigrant and issues that they bring along, we cant even mention Islam (even though it aint a race) or I cant even try to raise this issue without getting replies like "El...why does it have to be about race"
? I mean seriously why not!...? We live in a multicultural society and we clearly have issue that needs ironing out as a result of this (multiculturalism) hence talking about race should be 24/7 and paramount. I am a minority (i so hate that word) and i dont have a problem discussing thing brought upon as a result of people from my cirlce (race etc).
Another thing that makes me wonder if we are afriaid to discuss race is our our goverment tend to bow to slight pressure from so called minorities complaint and pressure. I dunno but this is a democratic society - Majority wins the vote and have their say...perhaps that dont apply in this case. What am trying to say is why councils gonna ban xmas, and other festive occasion (or change the tradition around it) just because of some pen-pusher?...Anyway you guys get the idea here. So are we scared to discuss race?
