Are Web designers all this bad?!

Don't see how you can be complainig at all if it's been done for free. I mean it's hardly going to be at the top of his to do list is it? No offence intended here, but did you honestly expect updates and a fast turnaround from something your getting done for free?

And to answer your original question, no web designers aren't all this bad - especially paid web designers :)

Sorry to go off-topic, but WHY quote the entire OP?! Drives me mad!

Good luck with getting your site done, however you go about it.

This could be really quick and easy with Modx and maxigallery. If you already provided all the copy and the design it shouldn't take long at all. you have standards compliant code and the site would be scaleable.

I have no idea what either of those are. I will look it up though.

Looks like he changed the Nameservers to his reseller hosting, but hasn't setup up your account. I'm curious as to the design, do you have a pic?

Yeah somewhere, I'll have a look as Im at work atm... Its very average to be fair, not one of my proudest works :o

Found a version, not final though, think a few things were changed with fonts etc.

Thanks mate will have a look now.

Ive got Photoshop cs3 and it seems they have merged imageready into it so its not as straight forward. Will let you know how Im getting on.

Right ok... Ive just changed the nameserver to QIQ (who my hosting is with)
They also want me to change the IPS tag, Just want to check Im doing the right thing here?

I bought the domain from 123-reg with 1 email address. Ive set the email address up and I just access it from outlook on my computer at home.

My hosting is with QIQ.

You don't need to do that.
What they're trying to get you to do is transfer the domain to them instead of 123-reg.

Damn...Ive already changed the nameservers to QIQ. It said 24/48 hours.

What do I do with regards to the IPS now? leave it? Transfer it over? or change the name servers back to 123-reg in a couple of days?

Nameserver updates can take up to 48 hours to propagate around the web, but usually don't take that long. Your site goes to QiQ for me now.

Personally I would only use Imageready/Photoshop to slice up the images (i.e. your logo), then code the entire site in notepad (notepad++ of course, I'm not that sadistic!). it's the only way to get it to work perfectly without spending ages re-slicing the whole thing.

Oh yeah, so it does. So do I leave the IPS as it is with 123-reg? or do I need to change it to QIQ?

EDIT : Ive decided I dont want to mess with this anymore, I dont really know what Im doing and Im not really in a position to learn and do it myself as I don't have time at the moment. Im going to contact some designers. Don't particulalry want to pay a lot of money out at the moment and I wont have much choice other than to go with someone realtively cheap.

Yes - Change the nameservers to your host. This points the domain to your hosting space.

No - You don't need to change IPS. This just changes your domain registrar. So when your domain comes up for renewal, they can charge you whatever price they've set to renew it.

Guys, Since changing my nameservers from 123-red over to QIQ, My email address (with 123-reg), has stopped recieving emails.

EDIT : Just to add... It will still send emails from my outlook account.

If your hosing is not with your domain registrar then you either need to:

A) set up the mail accounts on your hosting package
b) create was is known as a custom MX record

I hate hosts who try to force you to give them control of your domain, there's no need at all.
