Are win7 OEM and Retail installs the same?

I have a USB stick with windows7 ultimate with the file removed that lets you pick which version on install you want.

Now this was downloaded from technet and has always been installed with retail keys.

Will this work fine if i install and use a oem key thats on the sticker of the tower?

I'm not 100% sure, but I would have thought so as long as the OEM key is for that version of Windows.
