(can a mod do a poll please?)

..or not just the pl, all domestic leagues.

interesting read in todays telegraph section from hansen and carragher who talk about grass roots and how kids of the UK/R.O.I. these days are more interested in playing on a laptop as opposed to kicking a football about. they have more options for entertainment and are less likely to pick up a football etc

they also then talk about the winter break other leagues in europe/ROW have and how this benefits them on the international stage. carragher picks up on our cm pairing of gerrard and parker who (although in the autumn of their international career) should be able to last 90 mins (parkers achille's played a large part though tbf) and that even if we had beaten italy, we'd have been so exhausted that germany would've taken us to pieces.

the 4-4-2 system was flawed in this tournament but would a break over winter help with stamina and fitness levels? which countries do have a winter break?

i'm not so sure as it may lead to complacency. rooney's a good example, plenty of time to get fit due to his ban, yet he plainly wasn't fit. complacency, bad discipline, bad management/coaching? so could we come back to the pl games after the break and have to wait until february for players to get back into their stride and thus january (a very important month for the league) becomes a bit of a mess but it gives a more competitive angle on an international level?
