Just a black project test site in my opinion, the alien conspiracies are probably loved by the military over there for drawing attention away from real speculation.

I wouldn't be surprised if the military started them and feed them.

I also wouldn't be surprised if there's nothing there and the actual test facility is somewhere else. Making a Super Secret Don't Even Look Here base is a good way to draw attention away from everywhere else.

They're also designed for interstellar travel and weight in in the 5000 tons + range and would be useless in atmospheric flight

has anyone taken a gander at area 51 on google earth? quite interesting. if you go south west of area 51 you can see a load of craters and stuff where they have tested weapons, maybe nuclear. they look big enough!

i dunno how big the weapons were, or how old those craters are though... they could be decades old i guess!

not 100% sure, but the red circle on the left has been tagged as a Sedan nuclear crater... which seems quite far away from area 51.

it could have been an underground detenation maybe.

Could be anything. The ground scarring is rather large though. The way all the scars are scattered would suggest munitions.

Never really thought of this before, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's happened.

Considering how 'top secret' area 51 is, I'm really surprised they let Google publish images of it.
