Ares and virus attacks

Been using ares for a while now and for about the last week when I start ares and it connects I keep getting these virus alerts - scan.generic.UDP
I use Kaspersky and it stops them but after about 15 mins of getting them my internet connection drops and I have to reboot everything to regain my connection. Only happens when ares is running so could something be in my machine?
Any one got any ideas how to stop these attacks, please dont say stop using ares

You using a firewall of any kind?

yes the windows built in one and using a linksys wrt54gs with firewall on

I use peerguardian. I am lost as what to try to stop these attacks. also they come from all different ip's

Um, its just someone on Ares finding a file you have, just a scan performed to see what port ares is running on.

Ok , any idea why kaspersky has just started telling me that its a virus and is blocking it. and my internet connection then gets disconnected after about 20 or 30 of these attempts.
How do I stop my av blocking these scans and then stopping my net connection.
Edonkey is ok and my normal net use is ok, it is just ares.
