hi all
i bought a MB that doesnt have any RGB controllers,i then bought a commander core xt but the software..its pretty bad lol.

so wondered if theres any controllers that work with open RGB as i have tried that software and its pretty darn good but it does not recognise the commander core xt.

it picks up my gpu and mouse fine.

cheers

Razer Chroma RGB Controller is what im using, 6 standard 3 pin argb ports, but can handle upto 240 LED's so you can daisy chain devices to 1 port, also doesnt require any argb headers on the motherboard, it connects to a USB 2 header, best move I ever made, got mine from the rainforest.

ok thanks i just ordered one, real shame the commander doesnt work with open RGB its the perfect combo all in one unit.

I made the same mistake, I brought the Core XT, thought great I can run all my fans off it and have it control all my RGB, I brought a load of 3rd party cables to convert corsairs connectors to 3 pin argb, and it still didnt work, thankfully, Amazon make it easy to rreturn things, so I sent the whole lot back.

yea mines going back too i think once i get this working.
Dead easy to do, but if you want effects, even so much as rainbow wave, you have to add the effects plug-in, its easy to do if you dont have it already, just grab it from the openRGB site https://openrgb.org/plugins.html and stick it in the same folder as all the other OpenRGB files, open up OPenRGB, select settings tab, install plug-in, navigate to the plug-in file and select install, you'll then get a new tab across the top labelled effects, theres loads of them, select the effect you want and then choose the device you want to apply it too, finally switch the effect on (little tab next to the effect name)

I found that someone has developed a solution for Arduino that presents itself as a Corsair controller, and then the folks at OpenRGB have open-sourced software to control said Corsair device. So basically you can get an Arduino and fudge your own solution entirely open source. It worked well for me but you may be more comfortable with plug and play products than soldering stuff.

yes it would not detect commander core xt nor my gpu or ram
That's unlucky
It picks up everything in my pc
6 different manufacturers
And it controls them all

One thing for signal rgb
They add new devices constantly
So always worth rechecking
If it was a while ago

There's always Microsoft rgb control (Windows 11)
Though not sure if it's released to
Non preview versions yet
And think it only supports a few devices so far
But be interesting to see where they go with it

Aquacomputer controllers work with SignalRGB, after a little easy tweaking.
I'm not sure if OpenRGB supports them yet, but it sends data over IntUSB, so it should be possible.

thanks
ive got my 8 led fans working ok,but o have an easy diy rgb upright gpu holder with what appears to be an 11 led strip on it but its only lighting 8 of them.

Have you tried bumping up the LED count up for that port ? You may have to reduce the LED count for the other ports if you have set them all to 40

in OpenRGB, select the device on the left (Razer Chroma RGB controller) then where it says Zone: theres a drop down box which will say "all zones" click on that and change it to the channel with the strip on it, then click edit, and change the LED count with the slider and press OK.

If you are sharing that port with other devices, it maybe that the led count isnt large enough, thats the only time ive really experienced this issue.

yes thanks sorted it.
ive been playing with signal RGB and thats damn good once you get your head around it.

been setting the RGB up to sync with music and i noticed a thing.

i can have both the commander xt core and the razr set up together but there is noticeable lag on the razr vs the core xt on when sync to music, the core xt syncs perfect to the beat whereas the razr feels liks its about 200ms behind.
all good tho and having a good play :)

From memory
Which admittedly is terrible lol
Have a feeling the guy/guys made open rgb
Are involved in signal rgb
Even the free version is way superior
In my opinion anyway
To most of the manufacturers rgb software
If you delve into the settings you can even
Individually "paint " every single led a colour
Though even free version has enough good presets
That I haven't bothered

Microsoft wanting to implement rgb
Into windows makes me wonder
Maybe they will buy out signalrgb
Would give them a great starting point
Having it implemented in windows
Assuming it's done well
Would standardise the software side
Of rgb
The proprietary connectors though guess
We are always going to be stuck with sadly

I didnt like Signal myself, if its even possible.........I couldfnt figure out how to set different effect across different devices, it seemed to be one effect for everything, with OpenRGB I could easily set chase fade for my ram, rainbow wave for waterblock and a couple of fans and just plain white for other fans, I couldnt figure out how to do that sort of thing in Signal.
