Looking to upgrade a new cpu cooler fan to increase airflow and would like internal argb leds to allow me to control brightness and colour (just so I can see it is spinning and match other leds such as video card) . Yet.... most only talk of one 4 pin pwm cable ??. Surely there would be TWO cables, one with a standard argb 4 pin (3 populated) plug ?. Most don't indicate cable length either, even on the makers websites. Anyone with experience ?

If you look at this fan you can see it has 2 leads coming out. 1 is the pwm power cable and the other is the argb 3 pin cable. This is a generic rgb fan that is designed to entirely work with your mobo headers/software. A different pic shows the cables it comes with and I imagine they would easily reach the headers on the mobo.
A lot of the other big players in the fan space such as Corsair/Lian Li are not like this and are designed to plug into a controller box.

If you say which fan you are thinking about it will be easier to advise. You do have to buy the correct fan or it will not have the features you are looking for.
I'm having trouble with BeQuiet lga1700 cpu coolers at the moment. First 140mm didn't fit my motherboard (hit vrm cooler and memory sticks !!), second 120mm is an old version missing the lga1700 brackets !! (yes it said lga1700 on the OC website). Hoping OC sort this mess asap.... I'll then be looking to up the CFM and hopefully have argb leds in there and Asus motherboard cables so I can set a low white without additional cables (just to see the fan is spinning). Once I have a decent cooler that is pmsl...
