In the 1980s an american (Canadian?) comedian had his own series on the BBC... the XXX XXXXX show? Who was it?

It was him doing a comedy act and some sketches...

I just can't recall his name? Anyone put me out of my misery?

Describe a sketch?

I can't recall specific pieces from 25yrs ago :( Sorry!

Like I said it was your typical comedian doing his audience skit, or sketches...

It's doing my head in not being able to remember his name! Argh!

I'm sure an older forum member will have a brain wave and remember the gyu/show and put me out of my misery!

Definately prime time BBC stuff early 1980s or there abouts.

For some reason I've got "Montel Williams" in my head but that's the chat show host...

edit wtf montel? you on something?

LOL! No...

You know what it's like when you can't remember something and you know it's just on the tip of your memory but yuo can't quite access it.

I'm going to bed, and hopefully I'll wake up tomorrow and it's ping into my head from no where...

Or, some bright spark will put me out of my misery... We are talkign about a loooooong time ago though, so apologies for it being to vague.

Only one I can think of is the Dickie Henderson show.

Funny guy, used to love watching his show as a kid.

Maybe a bit earlier than the eighties though...

I knew who you were on about immediately, and to be fair, you got the "Mont" bit right :D :

Kelly Monteith.

Used to watch that regularly when I was a kid. Aaah, the three-channel days...

:)

Kelly Monteith is one of only a handful of comedians I actually paid to see live at Newcastle City hall was very good as I recall but it was long enough ago I had completely forgotten about him.

LOL! I woke up this morning my brain still damn rattling the problem around... and finally after a few painful minutes it came up with it!

Amazing how the brain works isn't it! So even though it doesn't know the answer, it can give you a (frustrating) clue, in the shape of "Mont(ell)"...

It's as if the brain knows a bit of the sound ('mont') but not the rest, so it'll give you that in some way at least...

Anyway, yes, Kelly Monteith is the guy I was trying to think off... And watching his sketches now, God it's dated (very) badly :)

ps: Have 10 points!
