Ok so I have a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 which had F4 version of the bios. I've just tried to update it to version 11.

It said it worked etc in windows and then it asked me to reboot so I did.

Now it's fubard! It won't do ANYTHING :( Nothing comes up on the screen and it sounds like the floppy drive keeps firing up.

Please tell me I can fix this :(

Cheers,

G

You've probably already realised it, but never, EVER do bios updates through windows!

Windows bios utilities aren't too bad these days.

Re the op.
If you've got a floppy drive and a working second PC with a floppy drive you should be able to format a (good) floppy disk, copy the bios files over to it and then boot the machine with the dodgy bios from the floppy.
Most modern motherboards have the ability to recover from a failed bios flash if you have a floppy disk (or in some cases usb pen drive, or optical disk) in the machine when it's powered up.
There should be full instructions in the motherboard manual or on the manufacturers site.

is there anything being shown on the screen at all? many a time people have come to me saying they did a bios flash and cant boot to windows with the pc now, and the problem is that the drive settings in bios are reset and need to be sorted.

Apart from the Asus ones. I hear the one they ship on the CDs is a steaming PoS. I had a similar problem to the OP with my P5B.
The thing is, if you buy a Mobo, and it comes with a CD containing a tool to let you update your BIOS from Windows, you assume its going to work. Afterall, if its bricked using their tool, surely they have to replace it? So they would want to make sure it worked ¬_¬

Anywho, the website apparently contains a working updater :P
