Only problem is I get all the usual email scam rubbish, this one guy sent me an email which looked similar, but hes proposing to send me a bankers draft for a little more than its worth, so I pay half the shipping costs  then when its in my account his shipping guy comes and collects it.... It really sounds like a load of crap to me, but hes asking to send me this bankers draft...
Out of curiosity, if I give him my address and he sends me it, and it does actually turn out to be money, and I pay it in.. he comes and gets the car, can I still be scammed... ie, if the cheque was stolen and it did go in perfectly ok, but after say 3 weeks when the car is gone the banks catch up with it and I get screwed??

Just wondering, cause selling cars online is just a pain in the damn ass...

I'd say it's a scam as well.

When I had my car on AT I got loads of those emails ranging from your typical nigeria buyer to a british guy in germany who hasn't got a phone. :p

End of the day I wouldn't sell to anyone that can't come and look at the car.

Given him my work address so he can send me whatever he likes... if there is anything to send lol..no way am I giving him my home address.

Yes - that's how it works. The bank will give the draft a cursory glance then pay the funds into your account, where a mini-statement will show them. In two months time you'll get a letter from the bank saying that they've examined the draft properly and it's a stolen one, so they've taken their money back. You are now down car AND money. Better yet, you even gave them that little bit more than your car was actually worth.

What if I were to pay the money in, then immediatley withdraw it in cash and keep it under my bed.. the bank couldn;'t get it back then unless they made my overdraft -£10000... lol.

On second thoughts im sure they'd get it back

some people have had success getting money out of scammers.
you can try saying you need an admin fee for the trouble of going to the bank and paying in the bankers draft. say 20$ cash.
maybe he'll pay it.
i don't think there's any real danger in giving your address. they aren't interested in coming to your house, they have better things to do than that (scamming other people)

i'm pretty sure you can check the bankers drafts if you phone up the issueing back with the draft's number. They should have a list of invalid cheques and thus be able to tell you if its fake of not....

however i'd be 99% sure its a totally bogus buyer trying to scam money outta you so maybe string the gits along as long as possilbe
