Argh! Need help!

Okay, was supposed to get my new parts today, but didn't, and now my machine is refusing to power on. I was shutting down windows when it turned off prematurely and now won't start up again.

When I try the fans move and some lights flash on for about a ms then it turns off, the mb light stays on though

any idea what the issue is? if the mobo is dead I'm not that fussed

Could be anything based on that description sadly.
Personally I would reset the CMOS and if that fails to clear it up then start pulling bits out and reintroduce them bit by bit to identify the culprit.

aha, think I found it, had tried to tidy my cabling and the case speaker fell off, the metal contacts seem to be touching the case, moved it and it booted :| unless I fixed it before that

I haven't even gotten the parts to assemble yet.... I was just trying to work out how I will wire my system up tomorrow (assuming crappy courier learns how to deliver).
