Right, as some of you might know I finished my build not too long ago (10 days?) Anyway a new problem has arisen
Yesterday the rig was all find and dandy until my leg knocked against the tower unit and caused a lateral movement (due to lame table
). Promptly the pc turned off. Now this had happened before but I merely switched it on again and it worked so I thought nothing much of it.
I turned it off from the mains and turned it on but it didnt work, cleared cmos + removed battery and also tried it out of the case this time not attached to the motherboard tray (I had disconnected unneccesary parts by now).
I disconnected and reconnected the 20pin + 4pin connectors and turned it on. Everything came on for a split second. It's like power on and power down within a millisecond of each other.
I saw the 4pin CPU power plug and disconnected it for fun and turned on the pc and to my amazement the PSU fan and Graphics fan turned on and it did not power down (so the main power connectors are ok) . So i'm thinking the problem is around the CPU area of the motherboard. The power supply (Enermax Liberty 500w) comes with two connections for dual CPUs so I tried the other 4pin CPU connector and that caused the PC to power down too.
As soon as I plug in the 4pin CPU power everything turns off, I even tried with no CPU installed and it still has the same problem.
What could it be?
