Had my MBP since march, still running snow leopard.
I used to just make sure the sound was set to mute when I shut down so that I didn't get the booooong chime when I booted up the next time.
But something's changed lately, possibly with the last set of updates that got pushed out, and now no matter what I do with the sound before shutting down (muted, turned all way down, headphones in) it still bongs away when I next boot up.
Was trying not to use any kind of app to do this but might have to now, has anyone else seen this behaviour change on their machine?
