Having recently upgraded to dual dual-core opterons (265s - 4 cores ), I'd thought I'd return to the fold of crunching (F@H) for OcUK. I used to crunch SETI back in the day when Boinc didn't exist and I was at university, but then I couldn't justify the cost and the leaving the computer on all the time thing. However, with me moving to NY for 6 months, that's changed! I'm not paying the bills, so this stays on all day and night
However, the factor I hadn't counted for was the heat. This box is now kicking out enough heat to rival a small radiator (there's a laptop sitting on top of it, also crunching), and it's battling fiercly with the rather large aircon on the other side of the room. This is making for an interesting microclimate in the middle.
Anyways, if I survive this madness, I'll be glad to be helping out on the F@H team.
