Bought a couple of blue CCs, installed 'em, and it looks like there's a disco going on in my PC. Is there anything I can easily do to mute the light a bit? I was thinking of wrapping some paper round them but we don't want no fires :D

how about cable braid if you have any in the appropriate colour? Another option is to wrap tape around the outwards facing half only, so you don't get the glare of naked tube. Kind of like this crude diagram (o

If the tube is not that hot, wrap insulation tape around the tube at intervals. Adjust the gaps between the tape to control the amont of light.

Thanks for all the responses lads :)

colour them in with a felt tip pen?

I was thinking of colouring one in, but alas, my pantone marker has died :(

Turn one off?

Tried it with only one plugged in, and it's still too bright. I will have another hash at placement tonight....it's annoying, because although I have a big case, the insides are very basic so there's nowhere to hide anything.

window tint you case window

There is no case window to tint, I have the grille installed instead (Gigabyte Aurora).

7v mod the molex connector for them, or put them on a fan controller?

Voltmodding crossed my mind, but it's too much hassle. Not to mention I have no idea what to do anyway :p

They will fade over time, just leave them turned on 24/7 for a few months

Hmmm, might be a bit difficult to sleep :D

why didf u buy led fans for a pc in your bedroom lol?

My case already has LED fans in it, but they're not very bright, we're talking about cathodes here :D I don't leave the PC on over night anyway, so light isn't really a problem, it's just annoying when I'm sat at my desk. Just wanted a nice subtle glow, and instead I get the blackpool illuminations :D

Yeah, was thinking of the tape option. I will give that a shot! :)

Out of interest which make are they?

I have used in the past and still have them in the box, some akasa 12" blue cold cathodes. Werent over bright, but trick is to hide the cathodes out of direct sight.

If that doesnt work, then maybe try finding some see through black tape, which may or may not dim the "blackpool illuminations" :p

i have mine on a zalman fanmate
using a molex to three pin - it goes into the FC and i control the light

i have two 4" white cathodes on the dimmest setting for some cool, subtle lighting

Yarp, they're the Akasa 'blue' cathodes, bought from this very emporium. Not exactly blue which also annoyed me a bit!
