Hey guys i'm about to splash out on a new monitor and am SO confused as to which to buy? The choice at the moment is between the Belinea 102035W 20.1", the BenQ FP202W 20", and the Viewsonic VX2025 20". I've excluded the Dell as it has a 16ms response time as opposed to the 8ms in the other displays.

Can anyone reccomend which one is the best? I enjoy watching movies on my monitor and also play a lot of games - do any of them have any backlight bleeding problems?

Cheers,

Matt.

I'm in the same boat.

The Viewsonic VX2025 or the Belinea 102035W.

Both approx the same price. I'm into gaming / office applications / internet browsing. Not so bothered by movies as I have a proper home cinema for that.

Any advice?

Should be ordering in next week.

What ever happened to Dell's new 20" model... did it never appear?

Thank in advance.

I just did a load of research and everywhere is saying the Viewsonic is the best one to go far as it provides the best colours, gaming experience AND movie experience due to it's low sparklies and fantastic showing of blacks/greys.

So I ordered one =)

The Belinier isnt to be sniffed at. Using the same panel at the viewsonic your basicaly choosing what case looks best to you for the price ;)

well i just ordered today a Viewsonic VX2025 and it should be here tomorow. I'm going widescreen to replace my Samsung 913N TFT...which ive had about a year. I just think I will like the look of the widescreen when gaming. I rally wanted the NEC 20" but didnt want to spend £422 on just a monitor...so I hope im impressed with the viewsonic. Will it be much better than a 19" anyone???
Anyhow..I shall report back with my findings hopefully tomorow!

well the jump up in screen size and resolution should be nice. The P-MVA panel technology used should offer you a more all rounded panel than the TN Film panel used in the 913N. Expect wider viewing angles, especially vertically....deeper black depth, smoother movie plaback and comparable responsiveness to your current screen. Let us know how you get on :)

thanks badass...i will. I wanted to get a bit more from using an x1900xtx and running at a higher resolution....so it should be good. Looking forward to it.
Will review tomorow for others looking also.

I'm on the lookout too, the Viewsonic seems capable of what i want, but i'd preferably like a 1600x1200 8ms 20.1. So far only the NEC monitor can do it from my initial scans and that is over budget for me.

Viewsonic VP2030b is a good choice then. Same 8ms P-MVA panel pretty much as the VP930 (19") and VX2025WM (20"WS) and very good ergomics too, have a look at that model :)

Awesome, couldn't see that! Is the apparent "pro" grade quality, higher number of pixels and 8ms over 16ms really worth the added £100 odd. I've only ever had an LG 1915S TFT, but want to replicate my 19" Mitsu 930SB CRT as much as possible.

One of my prime considerations when choosing a TFT is 1:1 pixel mapping. You're wont be able to always run future games at native res unless you constantly up your graphics card. Unless your graphics card supports it then you are left with the scaling capabilities of the monitor.

The NEC supports it and the Philips model afaik, not sure any other 20" around at the moment does though (and no 19" that I know of)

1:1 Pixel Mapping, i want! :D

Most of the monitors don't spec this, so i'm guessing most won't have this.

I want the Viewsonic VX2025WM now, however the bleed issue is really hindering it in my mind. The Viewsonic VP2030B looks the business, but at a £100 hike and a set 60Hz i'm still sceptical as to whether i'd prefer a WS TFT. Other than them two, i can't see myself spending £500+ on a TFT á la Dell 2405FPW.

I think, i think... i'm stuck on the VX2025WM, bleed be damned.

Is 1:1 pixel mapping the thing on my 2405 where 1024x768 etc is displayed in a small box in the middle of the screen?

If so I wouldn't base my decision on that, I'd prefer to play low res stuff streched, it still doesn't look too bad, and playing with a little box in the middle of the screen makes me wonder where my 700quid went :)

well..i got my 2025 this mrning and i'm mightily impressed with it. First thing...no dead pixels.....and from Ive seen so far very little bleed, just a slight bit in the bottom right of the screen...but i can only see it slightly during bootup and not at desktop or gaming. This image quality is just superb...better than my 913N and im loving this widescreen thing. Man its good.
Gaming so far what what ive tried is very smooth..CSS looks just awsome in widescreen ...im actually getting more benfit now from my 1900xtx playing at a greater resolution. Colours are good...slighly more faded than my 913N but I always thought that the coulours with my samsung monitor were to much and tried a bit to back them off. So far its excellent and I cant ask for more. It looks like a keeper.
I dont think this monitor has 1:1 pixel mapping from what ive read...but i payed for a large screen and dont want to play anything with bl;ack bars down the side anyway. Will try BF2 later and see how it looks. Well recommended!

excatly what I think....I would prefer to play games stretched if they dont have the widescreen option. I i wanted to do that I would have bought a 15" TFT!

yep, thats what it can do. Normal options are 1:1 which would mean it stays at whatever res you've selected, borders on all sides where necessary. "aspect" which keeps the aspect ratio as it should be, but fills up as much of the screen as possible interpolating outside of the set res if necessary and then also "stretch" which just fills the screen regardless
