Hello, I have a friend who does not seem to be able to compute what arguing the toss means.

I told him I don't like welsh music as the words sound funny, and I don't like welsh books...because my grasp of welsh is not adequate enough to understand them.

We also got into a "heated" debate over the checkout scanner at Tesco, and he is now greatly peeved about it.

Sometimes my arguments descend into inane ramblings, ramblings that I enjoy pursuing in the vague hope that I have the upper hand.

But getting emotionally hurt...is not something I expected to say the least.

Am I just a annoying and hurtful person? I like nothing better than a good argument over something insubstantial, but my friend just doesn't. At all.

Any pointers as to how to deal with this person?

Thank you

This. But is why, I only do it online, doing it in real life is far to much hassle.
You would hardly ever find me debating religion, CT or politics in real life. Only exception is when someone else has started it and the hwole group has joined in and even then I try and stay out of anything to in depth. Just causes to much hassle.
