Hi all,

I purchased ARK a long time ago, couldn't tell you one what platform now but got it free again via EPIC.

My 5 year old is mad about dinosaurs so thought it would be a nice step up from Lego games, which tbh, I find boring as hell.

I jumped into a single player game and started having a play around but I think it's going to be too hard for him to play.

Anyone any tweaks or ideas on how to make it more child friendly on single player. or am I going to have to launch a server up and mod that?

things such as the survival elements (hot/cold/food/water) etc might be too hard for him, as well as finding his way around with the current map book and not having player markers on etc.

Thanks

Never looked for mods that do what you are asking.

I host a non dedicated session for myself and the missus and played with the console commands. As host, I can give myself god noise and remove encumbrance (deep pockets).
In the set up options, you can reduce food and water consumption and increase the damage he can do.
Set him up as the host and do these bits for him, then you can join as a normal player (you still get the benefit of the settings just not the god mode and Deep Pockets.

thanks, it looks like God mode works in Single player which should help him enjoy it, plus there's creator mode which seems to work well.

I just need to find a good way for him to navigate.

When I used to play Ultima we had an external app that sat on top of the game window and was great for showing the map and player location.

Might see if I can find something similar, or look at building one.
