Last night I measured my arm span and my height and realised my arm span is 5 cm greater than my height. Anyone else like this?

I am 6ft 2 and my arm span appears to be 6 ft 3.98. I will get someone to measure me later, I was doing it my self so i there is some error in that.

I would reckon mine are less then my height. I know that when similar height people reach up next to me it comes about a hand length higher. Don't think its relevant to rock climbing, shorter arms give advantageous leverage I would think? I can very nearly do one arm pullups myself.

If your arms are relatively short then you've got better leverage to an extent (great if you go to the gym as you'll be lifting more than the people with longer arms probably due to a much reduced distance to move the weight) but you simply don't have the same reach for climbing, although reach doesn't matter greatly if you aren't strong enough to take advantage of it. However if you're mainly using your arms for climbing you're making it rather more difficult than it needs to be, for indoor climbing at least you are better to use them mainly to hold on but your legs do the power work and support - your legs are many times stronger than your arms will ever be.

Mine's pretty much square. 201cm either way.

Some basketball players have ridiculous wingspans. Kevin Durant is 6'9"ish and has a 7'5" wingspan.
It's a big advantage for swimmers, too.

I think Micheal Phelps suffers from this - his 'wing span' is that of someone over 7ft or something silly.
Maybe you should take up swimming?? :p

Are looking at adding the 2 arm lengths, or are you including your torso in the measurement from finger to finger?
