i would like to know is 9800gtx sli enough to play this game on max setting on 1900x1080? if this isnt enough what is?

I'd imagine you might have to play with some graphic's settings but your system should be fine.

I have a GTX280 and an i7 at 4Ghz with hyperthreading on. I get 30 FPS max with highest settings and I can't get 60 FPS constant even if I put everything on low.

Wish I hadn't wasted £20 on it.

You're doing something wrong to be honest.

Do you have Vsync on Calneon? :p

Vsync in Arma2 is on by default and there's no way of switching it off, unless you force it off via the driver control panel.

Also, vsync in Arma2 works suprisingly well and doesn't lock the framerate to factors of 60, as in some games. I've turned it off and apart from slightly better mouse responsiveness, the framerate is hardly affected.

As for the OP, your graphics setup should be fine, though I'm not sure how well SLi works in Arma2 (check benchmarks online). As people people have already pointed out though, the main bottlekneck in Arma2 is your CPU. Quad core helps to a certain degree, but what Arma2 really needs is raw single thread CPU power or at least better multithreading optimisation. Untill such powerful CPUs are available, you simply have to lower your settings, especially the view distance (i.e. less than 2km).

i find view distance doesnt really count though, as most servers seem to limit it anyway
i was on the OCUK server yesterday and changed it from 5000 to 10000 and nothing changed

I have a GTX295 and even I struggle with the game at times. It's just down to performance issues the game has that have still not been properly addressed. I have found that the latest Nvidia drivers help and using Nhancer (using a crysis profile) gives me 200fps average with max settings and draw distance of about 5km.

Of what I have heard, Arma 2 is a power hungry beast. Pretty pathetic really considering it aint that pretty. Bring on Operation Flashpoint 2.

Please tell me what :).

I have no idea what in particular you are doing wrong.

The Demo, ran perfectly fine on my system. No problems, good frames. I however, refused to pay £XX for this game, when Operation Flashpoint II is just around the corner ;)

I wouldn't call 200 FPS average a performance issue lol. I tried using nHancer but I get an error on startup to do with an error in an XML file.

lol when I get 200fps it's all good but the amount of fiddling I have to do to get that has basically ruined the game experience for me. Most of the time, only one gpu on the 295 seems to work in this game and my fps can go down to 30 or less. The game has a very shoddy engine and the pop up for terrain is hideous. Shame, cos I was very hyped about this prior to release but, as others have said, I am just going to hop onto Flashpoint 2 next month now. That will be a much more polished game.

what do people think this game will run like on my system? can't remember exactly what i got but something like...

amd x2 4400, 2gb RAM (2x1gb), ati xt1900,

also is this game any good? i just found out about it tonight and for £10 second hand it seems worth a try. i'm more looking to play single player then multi unless it's really good? i like bf2142 a lot!
