Picked this up a couple of days ago, *check sig. for system specs.* and the performance is utter LOL. I actually laughed, when I should've probably cried seeing as this doesn't bode well for my hopes of running Operation Flashpoint 2 at anything near to high settings.

The reason I post this I suppose, is

1. See if anyone else here has this game and have any tips to boost performance etc.

2. I saw a thread recently about whether or not we need more power in our PC's... well, this game answered that.

I'm actually pretty stunned, this game took my computer by the horns and did a fat turd in it's face :(

*edit* Sorry, didn't actually say what I'm running it on, everything on low, except normal model detail and terrain detail and 1240*1280 res. View distance is 2100.
*edit2* Quite obviously but ntl, don't have anti alias

Ahhh, so I was being lazy, and now searched some internets and found some VERY helpful stuff on performance improvements in the game!

With regards to the input lag, turn off aim deadzone? It's in game settings, other than that it's not a problem I've experienced so far *crosses fingers*

This is the website with the most help, go into the tech forums

Some really great stuff, managed to knock this game out of the park now whereas before I was really struggling with it!

What did you do exactly to get it working so great mate?

I've tried all sorts of things and still can't get it working satisfactorily! :(

Hey mate, just had a look at your specs, your in a similar boat to me. Unfortunately you're not going to like the fix to the problem. You have to roll back to XP. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous. Go and have a read on the forums of armaholic. It's the only way to enable your SLI profile with most people, some recommend the EVGA hotfix whilst others recommend using -winxp in the launch options, neither worked for me so I took the plunge and rolled back, I'm now laughing and my computer is now laughing at the game. High settings except for anti alias which I've left off, 1920x1200 it's fine, honestly can't ask for more when viewing distance is up at 4000.

Let me know how that goes and feel free to drop me a PM if you're still having trouble.

*edit* Also, try searching for something called Armamark, it's just a benchmarking tool which will help you track progress and see what changes are helping and what aren't. Would also recommend reading the forums in general, such as the general discussion on Arma 2, that's where the benchmark results are, good for comparison etc, and also try editing your Nvidia control panel settings, such as pre rendered frame amounts, try moving that from 3 (nvidia default) to six or 8 and also edit the Arma 2 config, and in there change the render resolution, to the same resolution you've set the game to, as they're not usually the same as one another to begin with, you'll find that should make a drastic improvement straight away.

*edit 2* Just for reference, what sort of performance have you been getting on it up till now?*

From what I've seen it's really a lottery as to which, of the numerous fixes works for you. Many people find the EVGA enhancement works for them, Nvidia released there own one not so long ago too. I found rolling back to XP the best solution. I get a solid 5500 in arma2mark, with all settings on normal, including AA/AF and post process effects, with a resolution of 1600x900. Gameplay is solid at 60 fps with those settings and a view distance of 3000. If you honestly have tried everything, I can personally garuantee rolling to XP is worth the shot, this game is simply stunning on even normal settings with the VopSound mod. As I said, if anyone needs some help with their cfg getting their game to run to it's potential, don't hesitate to drop me a message!

Also, everyone needs to stop saying this game is simply unoptimized like crysis etc. It certainly has it's share of bugs graphically, but, if you take the necessary steps recommended by BI (the company who made it), it runs perfectly fine. I was pretty annoyed I had to move back over to XP to get to that stage, but honestly, it was more than worth it, never had this much fun on a game, hands down.
