hi

was just wondering if anyone plays Arma anymore?

bought the game about 1.5 years ago and remember a lot of hassel trying to get the game to run / login (patch 1.08 at the time) to only find all the servers empty or so few playing that they seemed empty as the maps are huge. shame really as the mechanics of the game made for great team play at its best.

so i was having a tidy up and found the game was just wondering if it was worth reinstalling?? have there been any updates and is there anyone on the servers nowadays?

theres 3 odd updates at the moment, i play arma with Theguy from ocuk. though we havnt seen each other recently...

where are you dan!

maybe you can come join us at some point ^^

weve never managed to organise a game with more than 4 people. anymore and people starts to wonder off to dinner half way etc etc.

it has to be organised really precisely with the mission already in mind.

npc missions can accomodate as many as 20 people, and some of them will be very strict on respawn rules... which kind of makes it hard if theres only 5 of you lets say...

maybe we should revive the game organisation thread.

Hey guys, if you are interested in playing ArmA the way it should be played take a look at this ...

http://www.ic-arma.net/

Its a tournament where we have two fictional Armies fighting weekly over Points on the map. I play for the REAF side, come along and have a go, if you like it stay ... if not, your free to leave :)

Regards.

Dynamic campaigns are the way to go.

"Normal" servers with respawn and no objectives, and even servers with objectives just do not compare to the campaign games, as the emphasis to stay alive is so much greater in a campaign. Much more atmospheric, and you'll also find the better players, both in abilities, and maturity, play campaigns.

Sounds like you should try it out man, you might enjoy it!

I used to play it quite often, I've also played a LOT of dynamic campaigns for other games, notably various online wars in IL2 and so on :)

I've not got the connectivity to play this game online at the moment, shared net connection etc.

On a side note, I'm trying to patch up from the original version - though I've not got it installed in the default location (I'm using E: instead of C:, other than that the path is default..) but the 1.05 patch is complaining I either don't have it installed, or it's corrupt.. any ideas?

Hey, what was your name at IC? And your patch might be corrupt, are you getting a crrc error? Try redownloading the patch and installing again.

I'm not getting a CRRC error, it's the patch itself complaining that my install either doesn't exist, or is corrupt. I'll reinstall it again now. I didn't play IC, I played somewhere else which had limited success in comparison.
