Arma Help!

Hi there

I tried the demo and that worked however ive bought the retail copy and its not work from 1.04 - 1.09 beta all i get is a black screen ? ive tried all the patches thinking one will fix it!

Any one know what causes this ?

PC Spec

E6420 (Clocked)
4 gig of ram
8800 GT
Vista 64

ive read that it could be a problem due to 4gig of ram ?

Tried taking a stick out?

Tried older/newr drivers doing a driver clean?

Appears its 4 gigs is a problem :/ limit the system to 3gig starts first time

Arma does not like Vista at all. Having said that it crashes on my PC and I use XP, OFP was a great game (certainly in my top 5 of all time) but unfortunately Arma just isn't as good, it's also very buggy.

OFP was very buggy, unfortunatly OFP 1.5 is cack in todays gaming, it would be cack 2 years ago.

I went back to Arma last night after not touching it for six months, I wanted to see how it compares to Crysis.

Although the graphics are not that great, I would still play it but I found it really annoying that I carn't seem to kill anything more than a 100yds away. Even when lying down to keep it steady it's next to impossible to hit anything .

The AI can kill me with one shot from a pistol at that range, now I remember why I stopped playing it. (I did complete it Twice)

I know it's supposed to be more realistic but a modern riffle is very accurate, I played OFP for years and loved it but Arma just sucks.

Practise makes perfect. It doesn't take long to perfect your shooting to hit at 500 yards with the M16/assault rifles (or more with the M24/sniper rifles).

Part of the attraction of ArmA is that you can't just run and gun. The AI is still pretty poor though (so was OFP), even with the latest version 1.09 which is a big improvement. But as you point out what they lose in IQ they make up for in accuracy

Does anyone know if it works with SLI though? I'm thinking of getting another GT but don't know if it would make any difference in ArmA.
