They are doing a 2 stage release like they did back with OFP, some Central European countries end of November/early December, and an updated version in Q1 2007 :)

I think it looks fantastic btw

More info at BIS Studio :)

For those of you that don't know Operation Flashpoint - it is a realistic battlefield simulator. Think BF2/Wargasm, then add the realism of (say) Microsoft FlightSimulator, IL2, LOMAC, Falcon4, and you get Operation Flashpoint. Huge playing area (last title had 100km^2, this one will have 400km^2) and its the closest you can come to playing Soldier without having to leave the house

Cant wait, loved ofp on and offline.

Nice to see they added the harrier the ofp mods always had probs getting it to work right.

:D :) :D

Yes, i think i will get this game when it comes out.
I really liked Operation Flashpoint & hope this spiritual suuccessor delivers more of the same.

i cant believe this game still hasn't got a publisher yet

i was really looking forward to it. Wasn't it meant to have been completed and due for release Dec 2005 and just didn't have anyone to publish it

they better off putting it on steam

Really looking forward to this myself, like the video also, the way the people walk is good, not like OFP :P

Totally loved the sp campaign in OFP, the realism was immense and put every other combat sim to shame imho.

BTW, is it just me or does the walking animation look a tad silly in those videos?! I understand what they're trying to do, but making them all walk in the exact same manner and twitching constantly looks stupid. It would have been better if they made them do it randomly and not constantly.

Check out this other vid!! OMG it looks amazing. Operation Flashpoint was awsome (bar the poor graphics). So long as this sequel keeps all the good bits of the original this will be the best game ever!!

Thanks for the heads up! I have to say I have been looking forward to this since the day it was announced. OFP is an incredible simulator, and is still frequently played today.

Mate, they do; ideaGames for Central Europe, 505 for Rest of World.

Not sure where you heard the Dec 2005 from, as the game was developed more and more all the time; even the first screens from 6 weeks ago, compared to the current ones, are much improved.

Note of warning to everyone - its a resource hog, BIS have published recommended hardware requirements of 3GHz+, 1.5GB Ram and high-end DX9 card in order to enjoy the game with high level of detail.

505 isnt doing America.

Im sure BIS mentioned a possible internet release (like Steam or some other download system) but I have no idea if they are actually going to do it.

Yes, the game was supposed to be out on Dec 2005, but that was when it was considered an OFP 1.5, not long after they changed direction and decided to take it to a full sequal.

Been keeping my eye on this since it was announced, cant wait! :D

Major COOP`s server was the best :)

The full land list is:
United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Ireland, Andorra, San Marino, The Vatican City, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, Serbia & Montenegro, Bosnia, Slovenia, Lichtenstein

This is excellent news. Had given up on an OFP2 but it looks like BIS are still alive and kicking eh? :)

OFP is one of my all time fave combat games.

Is this really OFP2? Reason I asked is because one of my mates works for Codemasters and he is on the OFP2 project and he says they havent even really started yet. Unless he is wrong of course.

Ill ask him later

Codemasters own the name, hence this is called Armed Assault. Everyone knows it is OFP2, just under a different name.

*braces himself to be corrected*

Technically, theres 2 OFP2`s.

Armed Assault is the spiritual sequal to OFP, made by the same developers BIS.

However, Codemasters own the NAME Operation: Flashpoint, and have announced a sequal, but after the announcement there is little known about it, or who is making it.
