Cheap water kits are usually worse than a good air cooler. in general these days water cooling is not worth considering unless you really intend to spend loads of money on a top quality set up and OC everything out of your system, or as a hobby (and either reason is a good one).

cheers,

just sort of fancied water cooling to keep things quiet, but i suppose that would mean a passive radiator (am I correct?) and then building my own kit which i dont have experience of or most likely the money to do.

To be honest a good third party air cooler such as the Thermalright Ultra Extreme combined with 2 Sharkoon Silent Eagles @ 1000rpm will be quieter than a cheap water cooling setup and possibly cooler than a lot. Especially considering most watercooling setups have fans on the radiator, still have case fans and will of course have the noise form the pump even if it was passive.

haha, i was just looking at the Ultra-120 Extreme and wondering what fans would be good.

also if i got a antec 900 and had those fans turned to a quieter setting (so not full) would that be quiet and keep fairly cool?

edit, is it just normal like case fans you attach on top? how would one also attach two fans?

what also about two slow speed 120fans?
heard that larger but slower can be better than small and fast for shifting air and the noise?

Well to answer those questions:

- To a point, larger fans are better in every regard. So more or less and 120mm > 90/90mm
- If you mean the two fans that attach to the TRUE-120 then they use fan clips, not bolts, but i beleive only 1 set of clips come with the HS so you will need to buy/soure a second set seperatly along with the fans to be able to use 2.
- As for the Antec-900, although I don't have one a lot of people class it as a good entry case with alotof features, but it is like a vacuum when it comes to dust. Personally I think you can get much better cases for the same and less amoutns of money. If you are set o nthe Antec-900 then you might want to see if the front fans are of a bearable volume to you before purchasing replacements as I have heard mixed comments about how loud they are.

not set on the 900, any suggestion for cases?
i dont really know what i want lookwise, nothing too chavtastic yet nothing too plain (as sadly plain can mean boring and uninspiring for cases)

For the price....
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-054-LL <3 Can't go wrong with that!

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-145-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29 seems to be recommended a lot, although again not my tastes has the cheaper edge.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-005-AK&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=507 or http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-114-LL&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=187 (my personal favourite) for a better if slightly pricier case.

Depends on the sort of budget and size needed?

i would say budget 100ish max
size, well would need to fit that bigarse cooler in it, and a big graphics card.
kinda like the cooler master design, seems to have that extra bit of the lian li, which just tend to be..."well how about black and nothing on it sound?" approach to their design team.

when looking at water cooled cases i liked the design of the Gigabyte 3D Mercury Water Cooled Case, but i didnt really look to see if they just did a standard version *goes off to look*

question about lion lis:
do they come with some sort of optical driver covers? just looking at pictures of poeple builds all they seems to be is an open button and plain black frontage, eg not covered in samsun 20x blahblahblahblah.

Really i think with cases msot of it is personal preference (to a point), best thing to do is browse the OCUK case selection, link the ones you like and we'll give you some advice on it. The Lian-Li PC-17B is a stunning case and I would recommended it very highly. If you wanted to add something flash to it then maybe some cathodes for the front or some kind of fan controller. Lian-Li also sell optical drive bay covers so you can hide the branded nastyness if you so wish ^
