Armoury Crate reinstall

I had an issue with Armoury Crate software of my ASUS laptop, (I wanted to install an add-on) and the only way to install it again was to uninstall AC using ASUS official uninstaller which I duly did. Re-installed and everything worked perfectly. I followed the steps provided by ASUS, (https://rog.asus.com/articles/guides/how-to-cleanly-uninstall-and-reinstall-armoury-crate/) and the laptop configuration works like it used to, but I am worried that I shouldn’t have done this and will it affect the smooth operation of Windows 11? Many thanks.

I have checked the reliability checker and can see all the devices and drivers were uninstalled and then reinstalled on restart.

How does the software know what laptop I have and how to control the fans etc. if you re-install the software?

When my previous MSI laptop went in for repairs many years ago, the software equivalent of Armoury Crate didn’t work when I got the laptop back. They had replaced the motherboard. So I’m just interested how the software recognises the laptop I have?

Thanks in advance.

Its a UEFI/BIOS function so i assume that it reports the BIOS/Hardware identifier in the OS and associates it with the correct version of Armoury Crate on their servers. I am not sure if its the same in Asus laptops as it is on Asus motherboards but there is a entry in the Tools section you can enable and disable Armoury Crate. Its a useful function and needed now that most motherboards/laptops no longer come with driver disks (As no drive) but i find it a pain when enabled so i tend to disable and download the latest manually, particularly with chipset drivers as the ones on the Armoury crate tend to be a little out of date, especially the AMD drivers.

Okay, thank you. Do you think it was okay to uninstall and reinstall Armoury Crate? It identified everything again, I was just a bit worried.

Yeah it will be fine, it might even have updated the drivers and programs to a newer version. Its basically like a driver cd that is pulled over the internet from a server. I am not 100% but i believe they do update armoury crate when they update the drivers on their website, but dont quote me on that. ;)
