It gets worse. Installed Armoury Crate with new Crosshair hero viii. it seemed like a good idea at the time. The software recognised my ROG peripherals, (flare keyboard, qi mat etc) and requested an update and reboot. On restart is all worked wonderfully. however a few days later it asked to be updated again and is stuck in the endless 'installing but not installing loop'

no problem thought I. I'll go back to using armoury II in order to access my flare keyboard settings.

unbeknownst to me these updates from aura had re-written my device firmware without informing me.

now armoury II tells me "this item can only be used on the armoury crate software"

and armoury crate tells me I need to install an update which it fails to install.

my very expensive rog peripherals are now useless.
 
It might be worth going on the ASUS forums to see if there is a fix for this you cannot be the only person with this problem. Failing that I would reinstall windows as it a very quick process these days.
 
Thanks. however I have done that. the FIRMARE on the PERIFERALS has been overwritten and will now ONLY work with ARMOURY CRATE

I was not warned that this would happen.
If I had known I would have declined.
lots of people on the ASUS forums have these issues and none of them are getting anywhere with sorting it.
 
I think you sir are having a laugh.

you do know that FIRMWARE has nothing to do with windows right?
and that reinstalling windows does not refresh a devices firmware?

and you know what the sentence 'already tried that' means.

At this point, im trying to warn other users that installing armoury crate may effectively brick their peripherals.
 
ahhh ok I was under the impression that the program install was stuck and had corrupted registry keys so that the program had partly installed. So really the only remedy is to down grade the firmware.
 
Did you ever get to the bottom of this? I have just updated to the latest firmware on my flare keyboard. It works OK in crate but my mouse is still using Armoury II which means that basically the Sync function is useless now as Armoury II tells me there is only 1 device and you need two to sync. Armoury II just tells me to add another device and I cant control the keyboard from there as now it only works in crate. Anyone have any ideas?
