Im thinking of doing either one of these 3 but im still undecided.

The Army:
The good: Would be fun, would keep me active fit and heartily and have a chance to tour the world.

The bad: it would be hard, strict, lowish pay and if im deployed somewhere there could be a chance of being shot.

IT
the Good: High pay, most days spent inside in a reasonably comfortable environment.

The bad: Would get Extremely boring, wouldn't be able to sit still and could cause weight gain and loss in fitness.

Mechanic:
The Good: Being able to work on all sorts of cars, work that involves being able to move around a bit, being able to save money by servicing my own car and doing my own repairs from skills ive learnt.

The bad: It could get Tedious, Good chance of not having skin on my knuckles ever again, Long Apprenticeship, very low pay during the first 4 years

Now what to do? Give me advice and help me decide.
Please add some pros and cons if you can aswell :)

Army...

Will be an amazing experience..and of course you can do either of the other two within the army

If I had my time over, id sign up at uni.

Army.
Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about being a mechanic and a whole lot more besides from making bullet proof glass to plastering.

If IT is your thing try the Royal Signals.

a job that really appeals to me is in the RAF as an intelligence officer.

got some info packs a while ago on it and it seems really interesting and great.

whether i have the brain power or know how to get in and do it is a different story.

When choosing a career it's easy to become deluded by proposals of high wages and an easy life. That's a bad road to go down. The best attribute to a career of your choosing will be job satisfaction. Which job will you enjoy doing most, will encourage you to work hard & progress through the ranks, and will have you waking up in the morning with a spring in your step?

I think you know what job you want to do, go with your heart. Happiness in a job is worth so much more than an extra few grand or a couple of less hours.

What he said.

I wouldnt touch the the army with a barge pole.

Or going into IT.

Out of the three options i would become a mechanic, no you wont earn a billion pounds a year but you will earn more than being the army, and when you get qualified if you can finance it you can start your own place up and then you can be the one charging £40-60 an hour to fix cars.

lowish pay

Not really!

I get £35/day for doing nothing (at uni), and as an Officer you can expect 30k within 3 years. Add in to that the fact that you can have your food and accomodation either free or costing next to nothing (depending on what you're doing) and the other financial benefits (kids school fees payed for, cheap travel, VAT free cars etc), PLUS when you do go away you don't spend anything, you can soon have a very healthy bank balance. :)

be a rockstar.

thats my main ambition.

well.. just to play as many gigs as possible.

anything else is second best...actually 3rd best

footballer is 2nd best, im 19 so according to arsene its too late

Army pay is quite good, if you join, ask your recruitment officer what trades start off on the higher pay band, you dont need to worry about food and housing as its all taken care of in your wages and isnt very much. Within 5 years you could be earning 25k with no stress of losing your job.

In IT its hard enough getting the dream job and then keeping it is a challenge in its self.

Mechanic, is a trade for life and a good mechanic will earn more than an average IT job will, Join the army go REME become a helicopter engineer and make a fortune in civi street.

Im currently going down the army route...

If you have the qualifications and the apptitude then apply as an officer. The added responsibility, pay and challanges and many other things make it one of the best jobs out there:).

Any questions about it ask away i know there are a few of us going down that route.
