Hey,

I wanna buy a laptop for my mom for her 57th birthday. She will be a teacher for another few years and will be easier for her with a laptop when mind isn't as clear as it was before. So mostly word, excel and Google Chrome. I am not sure if 4gb will be enough. Few days ago I checked ram usage on my pc with 4 tabs of Chrome and Spotify and it showed 5gb of 16 available in use. Display around 14 would be perfect. Nice crisp display for weak eyes demanded. I think that's it. Thanks!

I picked up the following a couple of weeks ago
Lenovo V110 Intel Core i5, 4gb ram, 128gb SSD 15" screen
£360, there's an 8gb version available as well.

I've set it up & had a bit of a play with it & it's a very capable little machine.
Brought it for the wife's birthday next month to replace her 8 year old celeron powered Advent

15 inches a bit too big. I'd rather go down to 13 but 14 would be perfect. Can anyone with 4gb laptop tell me how Chrome works with 4+ tabs opened?

How about this

Medion Akoya S3409 13.3" Full HD 7th Gen Intel Core i5 Laptop 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • Intel Core i5-7200U 2.5GHz/3.1GHz Turbo Processor
  • 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • 13.3" Full HD IPS Display (1920 x 1080) Resolution
  • Integrated Intel HD Graphics
  • Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Picked one up myself for just under £400 a couple of months ago but they're going for around £450 now, also has illuminated keyboard.

I got my parents a second hand thinkpad t430 i7 with ssd for like £150 from shpock, just got general web browsing and youtubing its awesome and the battery even lasts 4-5 hours

I loved the machine so much I bought myself one, business laptops are the best and make great used bargains - high quality, high spec, but dull non flashy non cool looks
