Arranging files and folders

Since I did a Erase and Install of leopard. My files are not auto arranging files and folders can someone shed some light where to turn this on as i cant get it into my thick skull...

Ctrl click > Show View Options > Arrange By.

Is that what you meant?

Im pretty sure there are two buttons on the 'Show view options' panel saying 'all windows' or 'this window only.
