Arranging files by name?

I don't know what the hell is wrong but every time I open a folder on my PC, be it within explorer or within a program like Photoshop, I have to manually right-click and arrange the files by name.

Does anyone know what could have changed to make it do this? Or even better, does anyone know a way to set it up so they always show in the order I choose?

The only solution that springs to mind would be trying, tools -> folder options -> view -> "Apply to all folders" (once you have sorted by name) or "Reset all folders"

If you use a fairly default xp layout in folders it won't get on your nerves particularly resetting but if you have done a fair bit of fiddling it might be more annoying than it is worth
