i'm just about at the end of my teather now. NTL's billing department needs shipping to the middle of nowhere then nuked (from orbit), killed with fire and punched in the ovaries all at the same time. idiots, BLOODY IDIOTS

last month, they screwed my billing up. With the situation at home as it is at the moment, i'm finding it all to easy to forget to pay bills if i dont have them here. IE, delivered on time. NTL managed to deliver a bill a whole month late. I was cut off two days before i even got the bill and I got a letter telling me the bill hadnt been payed warning me i'd be cut off on the SAME day they cut me off. That's efficiancy for you.

So i ring them, pay the overdue (£20-odd ithinkit was) so they can reconect me and agree to pay the rest a few days later when i got payed. I also told them they can shove it and disconnect me. This is when they offered me half price 10mb bb for 6 months and free tv if i stayed. I agreed to this, but i also told them to sort out the phone line which isnt working atm and im still paying for it - ive reported this 3 times now. I also told them i didnt want charging for the late payment, which they agreed to.

Today i get a bill. i get charged for the late payment, i dont get any discounts, the phoneline is STILL dead and im still paying for it.

This time, they can shove it up their noses. I've had enough of them.

Yep, thats about right for NTL.

Great when everythings actually working and you don't want anything from them, absolute hell when its not.

They still haven't collected my old STB and modem from my mums house which I cancelled over a year ago.

I've to ring them every month now to correst billing mistakes. :( Used to be fine with me, no issues whatsoever, but recently have become really crap.

Considering dumping their TV package for Sky (cheaper, has more channels at that cheaper price, Sky interface works fast, NTL box is slow as a snail), and their phone line for a Skype line....if there is indeed a Skype line you can plug into your router and not have to leave your PC switched on.

I doubt they'll bother. I've had one for about two years that I was told they'd send me a prepaid jiffy bag to send back in. They never did.

I'm having similar problems with orange atm.

Set up a direct debit, got a letter 6 weeks ago saying it had been set up correctly.

Went to log into my account at the weekend, and it's showing £80 overdue and online access had been suspended. There is a button to click though to make an instant payment with debit or credit card. I click it, and get told "There is no need to make a payment as you are paying by direct debit".

So, I phone up and pay over the phone.

The next day I try to login to the online service and get told "The ballance on your account is £0.00 and is therefore overdue. Access has been suspended until payment is received".

I phone them up, and they say they'll have to delete my online account and recreate it.

It's been deleted, but now when I try to create it again I get told "This account is already managed online". GRRRR

To top it all off their customer services team cannot do any of this website stuff, and ask you to call tech support at a cost of 50p per minute.

Useless. Should have stuck with T-Mobile.

ah my friends at ntl :)

i've had no end of problems in the past and complained bitterly, especially at how long it took them to transfer me from leicester to nottingham, then it wouldn't work and it took ages to sort out (the engineer had failed to note the correct address of my modem hence why it wouldn't work) plus all sorts of other problems including how long it takes to get through on the phone.

im now surprised if i manage to get through in less than 5 minutes. however, there is an advantage i only have bb now, and i pay once every 3 or 4 months, or when they cut me off. they are so inept that even if my bill is overdue by 3 or 4 months i still don't get disconnected, i get all the letters saying account is overdue etc and that i will be cutoff but it rarely happens.

my record is 7 months without paying and still having a service! they eventually cut me off and so i called to pay.

unfortunately it is still a really good bb service (most of the time) so that's why i stick with them.

should you stick with them? depends if you can take the hassle.

in my situation it offers the best value for just bb. the major advantage is that you can just have their bb and nothing else, no phone line on top or anything. that was the most attractive thing for me as i have no need for a landline (apart from the fact that sky uses it but it still works without it) and i have sky.

i've stuck with them for around 5 years now and i've not found any better value for me, unless anyone else can point me somewhere?

i just spoke to the crediting department

"sorry but theres no discounts been noted on your account, and as you've been suspended those disounts would have been removed"

"no, i was given the discounts after i was suspended, i told you that"

"oh well they arent on there, there's nothing i can do about it. sorry"

after i got my discounts back, i was going to rings faults to forget those monkies to fix my phoneline. oh and my on demand, that doesn't work either  now, im gonna ring billing and tell them where to go i guess

NTL cut you off? At one point I didnt pay for 4 months (closed a bank account and forgot to switch NTL's direct debit over :o ) and I didnt get cut off.

But then again, thas typical of NTL, they never seem to have a standard set of guidelines to follow in any situation.

yep. they cut me off on the same day as i got the warning letter, then got the bill that i hadn't payed two days later

I'm on the phone to cancel everything cept the broadband now. been waiting for 6 minutes....

I'd tell them to shove their offers to get you to stay. While I can't say I've ever had any problem with NTL while I was subscribed to their broadband only....as soon as I got the TV and Phone in as well, my own account was all over the place. Charging me for 3 phone line rentals a month, randomly cancelling my TV subscriptions, changing the speed of my broadband up and down like a yo-yo.

Their BB service on its own is good, otherwise...I'm sick of them.

could be worse you could be with AOL

Want to back that statement up with anything or are you relying on the 10+ year old notion that all AOL users are "nubies" and don't know what they are doing?
Next you'll be writing M$ instead of MS and then you will be lost forever....

aol isnt so bad, as long as you dont use their horendous software and dont try to canel a sub with them. i have a list of friends who have had trouble with aol after cancellation, namely the continual debiting of their cards after the service has been stopped.

try posting this on ntlhell.com, they have ntl employees on there that actually try and help (bit of an oxymoron i know).

Ive cancelled ntl and, fingers crossed, i think im rid of them. But a small part of me is still expecting a huge bill some point down the line.
