Hi

Anyone tried connecting a OCZ Modstream 900 to a 9800 GX2?

I've just bought one and can't locate an 8-pin connector. Do I double-up and use 2 4-pin?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm very new to this.

Regards,

Nope, the 4pin are for your mobo. See if it will work with a 6pin PCI-E power cable, like the ATI HD2900 cards did (ie 1x6 pin slot, 1x8 pin, but worked with 2x 6pin)

Thanks for the reply.

Just searched online for more info and apparently, 2x 6-pin won't suffice.

Is it possible to purchse additional leads for a modular PSU?

What GX2 did you get? The BFG version comes with a 6pin-8pin conversion adapter so it works.

I've successfully used mine on a PSU with only a single 6pin PCI-E connector.

As stated above, i'd contact OCZ about an adapter.

Sorry for the slight OT, but do all 9800GX2's come with 2x 8pin plugs or 1x6 and 1x8 ?
Pesky companies, release a new power plug and manage to completly de-standardise it
