So I returned an HP 23" 2309V because it was only VGA and non HDCP. I then ordered an LG 23" today arriving tomorrow. Since then I've found another HP 23", the 2309M, with the same spec as the LG, plus built in speakers. But the thing that is driving me mad is that I can't stop thinking about the HP2309M, it's, to my eyes, a thing of beauty. I know the LG is going to be a great monitor, but I only get excited thinking of opening the HP purely because of it's beautiful looks. Thing is, if I return the LG, it's going to cost me 10 or 15 quid in postage probably, and then the HP is also going to cost me £179 which is £15 more than the £164 LG. And I'm already over budget above 160. :( Then again, perhaps £190+ isn't bad for a 23"?

So I guess I'm asking, should I just do it so that I don't keep feeling a little disappointed, and have any of you ever done that and ended up spending more money due to your mistakes, but ended up happier? It's this one I really want, even with the reported reflective gloss screen.

unless you dont like the monitor when it arrives dont return it
i have experience with built in speakers and it aint a good one you may be thinking it will provide sound without clumping up your desk but it seriously doesnt ive had better sound quality from the free headphones you get on a plane

It's not that I expect great sound from them and I will still use headphones. But it would be handy for instance when I want to stream my favourite radio station chat shows and don't want to wear the headphones.

It's not that I won't like the LG, it's just that I prefer the way the HP looks. I know looks aren't the thing to go for, but I am a bit like that. But I probably shouldn't bother, it's just gonna cause hassle and more expense over something quite petty.

you sound adamant on the HP :)
its your monitor so dont live to regret

Lol, I am, but I suppose I want opinions too. I guess most people would just say get it if that's what I want. I mean, if someone said stick with the LG it's far superior, it would make my decision easier. On the other hand, if people say the HP is great, then I'd rather go with a great performing monitor that looks great too. Not saying the LG is ugly, just a bit bland, like most monitors.

Update. I received the LG and I'm gonna open it and try it. The HP 2309m is out of stock everywhere, it's unbelievable how HP haven't supplied any places, so I can't get it for love nor money anyway, lol! If I don't like the LG, then I'l return it and buy the HP for £176, the cheapest price I could find inc shipping. Stock ETA for the HP is 5th to 11th november in all places.
