I just cannot decide which monitor to buy for my new setup!!! I've scoured people's opinions and through the sticky's etc - but just cannot decide!!!

I'm after a single 20" widescreen monitor (may buy another, depending on funds :) ) - will be used for playing games and all other media. Not specifically for movie's etc.

No set budget in mind - but would like good bang-for-buck value of up to £300 ish (may go higher for something if it's highly recommended)... Would like DVI connection though.

Have looked at Iiyama 22'' PLE2200WS, Viewsonic VX2025wm, NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2, Dell Ultrasharp 2007WFP and so on...

So folks - what's your recommendation?

Depends on your budget and the sort of prices you can find the various screens for, but I think accepted wisdom is that the NEC is the best just edging out the Dell, and then the others. The 22" screens are all TN panels so they're great value but have limited viewing angles.

I've got the Dell 2007WFP myself and very much recommend it, but not having used the other screens you list, I couldn't make any sort of comparison. Some pros for the Dell - very quick, pivot mode, s-video and composite inputs, scaling options (fill, 4:3 and 1:1), HDCP.

I think Fish99 has made an excellent summary there. The NEC and Dell are both widely regarded and popular models. The NEC doesnt have the functionality and inputs of the Dell but has a few nice extra features like their DVM (dynamic contrast) and OptiClear coating (helps colour vibrancy and PQ). It's arguably one of the fastest screens in the market and so for gaming would be a very good choice. The Viewsonic VX2025WM is also a good model, with very good all round performance. If you dont want the OptiClear coating of the NEC (which some find too reflective) and want some smoother movie playback, then this is well priced and well established
