Original 30Gb Ipod video wont hold charge anymore - charged over night and it lasts a few seconds before needing another charge

Whats even worse is because its from an insurance claim (ie I never got a receipt or anything) through a company I havent used in a while I cant even get a replacement

Who can recommend a replacement

Most of my tracks are burnt as 192kbps mp3's and I have around 25Gb+ of music, dont necessarily need video, but sound quality is a must (I have decent headphones) and if possible able to immitate Windows explorer and copy folder structure as is.

Anyone have any ideas / recommendations?

Can I ask what you record your mp3's at and what the battery life is like (I checked OCUK's page thank you but I suspect 192Kbps will shorten that estimated battery life considerably)

Audio Battery Life: Up to 14 hrs playtime (MP3, 128kbps, 4mins/ song)
- Up to 8 hrs playtime (WMA, 64kbps, 4mins/ song)

ARe WMA's that much harder to process or is the 14hrs a little "optimistic"?

PS to mods, not blaming ocuk I release this is Creative's sales blurb

Edit....whats the filing system like - is it just drag and drop or completely copies Windows directories etc? Software any good? How about GUI on the device itself?

Cheers

hey there

the video timing is about spot on. Ive watched a couple of films on the go... 1 1/2 hours each ... x 2 films - and the battery still had a while left.

as for audio - again not far off quoted time... flight time plus travelling etc.... had it going for about 12 hours ....

sorry cant be more accurate - tend to only use it in lunch hour or on holiday.

Gui is great - only downside is the sensitivity of the thing! this can be turned down ... and you get use to it... sometimes you `click` an item instead of selecting...

software is good... but there are alternatives.... video converter is quite slow depending on what option you choose.... and your system.

without starting a ipod v zen war - if you were happy with the ipod... then you will at least be happy with the zen - I prefer then Zen.
(oh and its a little thicker.... )

earphones - as standard are crap... but then arent most?
I use Shures with mine.

Hope this helps a little.
(oh and I bought the addon to watch the videos on tv - really great feature - they look really good.
)

Mate you only need the serial which is located on the back of the iPod. (Or on the iPods "about" section on the Settings)

Follow the steps here: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/

You should get a new iPod by next week if you do it now, probably by Tuesday/Wednesday or Thursday at latest.

If you for some odd reason end up having to buy a new MP3 player, don't bother getting the Zen a new iPod video is only about 10 pounds more, considering how much nicer the iPods look and feel it's by far worth it. Not too mention that iPods are actually better in the first place.

Np. Apples support for sending the iPod back was superb when I had to get mine replaced about 3 weeks ago, brand new one with me now. :)

Same thing happened with mine, the battery stopped working properly, it went from fully charged to dead within 40 minutes
Just so you know, you get a new Warranty with the new replacement iPod as far as I know, but for me they gave me a brand new iPod as the battery was not the only issue, it had a HDD issue also and the screen was defect when playing images/videos (the colour black didn't show up good). If they just replace the battery you may not get a new Warranty. I'm very chuffed with my new iPod, screen plays black colours fine now and the battery always lasts how it should according to the estimations by Apple.
