This has just been released here, it looks more of an app than a game but it looks fun.

"Art Academy provides everyone from beginners to experts with tools to create their own works of art plus simple tutorials to learn about color, shading, movement and perspective. The skills learned in Art Academy are transferable to real-life art materials outside of the Nintendo DS environment. Art Academy includes all 10 of the lessons and tools from both Art Academy: First Semester and Art Academy: Second Semester, which are available separately as Nintendo DSiWare downloads. Plus there are 10 Mini Lessons and more than 80 motifs that players can choose from to use as reference material when creating their art."

This is in Japanese but gives an overview of it.

They've been advertising this on TV lately.

Wasn't really sure what to make of it, as the drawing of the tree they feature on the advert doesn't really look like it works very well and I'm not sure how well the DS is really suited at drawing such things. They then go on at the end to show drawing the Apple that's on the cover briefly, and while that looks really detailed, I was dubious as to whether the DS could really replicate such a thing.

I've read no review or anything of it mind.

Yeah the advert of this on TV got me really interested. I'd like to do some East Asian style art or caligraphy.

It really depends on the skill of the artist and even then, you could say that the tree drawing was one's own "Impressionist" style or something.

I mean if some highly skilled individuals can make ridiculously wonderful pictures using something as basic as Microsoft Paint (Most I've see nwhere they spend ages on it), then surely the same can be done for this interesting application.
