Hi everyone

Looking for some help here if possible. I booted up my pc this morning and I started getting artifacts on a normal website page and small amounts of artifacts in game.
Strangely, I do not get any artifacts when running a 3d mark stress test on the gpu.

Last night I was playing with some mild software overclocking on the CPU only through the Ryzen Master app. I reverted it all back to normal hours ago and now I dont get artefacts but I get serious FPS drop.

Could anyone help me with some basic troubleshooting guidance? Im confused if the its a CPU issue or a GPU issue?

i have a 5800x and a rtx 3070 Auros Master.

Update - put in a 3060 and the same issue. RAM, CPU or Mobo is faulty. Always thought artefacts = GPU !

Yes you're right, artefacts are normally caused by the GPU. But if you have Resizable BAR enabled, then extra variables are added into the mix because the CPU is sending much larger elements like shaders and textures to the GPU, which would normally be chopped into smaller requests.

So try disabling Resizable BAR if it's enabled and see if that helps.
As previously mentioned, are you using a riser cable?
If that doesn't help, run memtestx86.

Thanks for the response guys! After reading the comments I tried a different pci slot, no change. Tried different monitors (but not the cables), nothing changed.
It left me with a CPU or mobo as the only thing that hadnt been tested. I am on custom loop so the thought of changing one of those scared me, because effort :p So as a final ditch effort I formatted the PC... issue gone! WTF !?!? Driver failure. conflict ? No idea what the issue was but never knew artifacting could be caused like that. Maybe I have put a plaster on the issue and the hardware will fail again?
